The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas is partnering with San Francisco-based Simplilearn to create an online cloud computing bootcamp. The target? To improve the skills of professionals in the cloud space.
Simplilearn offers a leading online bootcamp for digital economy skills training that aims to equip students with the skills they will need to thrive in the cloud computing space.
“Cloud computing has become a key pillar for innovation and digital transformation today,” Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, head of the electrical and computer engineering department at the Erik Jonsson School at UTD.
“As the education center for engineering and computer science in the United States, we focus on partnering with various entities, government and the private sector to provide multiple opportunities for career preparation and skill enhancement,” added Bhatia. “We look forward to working with Simplilearn to provide an affordable option for students and professionals to develop their technical skills.”
Upskill technology professionals to succeed in a changing landscape
The partnership will introduce a 24-week virtual cloud computing bootcamp, jointly offered online by Simplilearn and UT Dallas.
The partners said cloud computing skills are highly sought after and cited Grand View Research as the market is projected to grow at a 13.1% compound annual growth rate from 2023 to 2030.
They said this program aligns with Simplilearn’s goal of upskilling technology professionals to succeed in the rapidly changing technology landscape.
Timely training for required technical skills
The bootcamp collaboration aims to leverage the North Texas ecosystem and provide more upskilling opportunities for the digital workforce in these new age domains. Citing Indeed, partners said there are over 60,000 cloud engineer jobs in the US
UT Dallas is close to tech giants including Texas Instruments, Verizon, Samsung and AT&T, in a region with high demand for a skilled digital workforce.
“Cloud computing continues to be one of the most in-demand skills globally,” said Anand Narayanan, chief product officer at Simplilearn, in a statement.

No previous professional experience is necessary
The cloud computing boot camp is best suited for people with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, Simplilearn said.
Applicants need no prior professional experience and may come from a non-programming background. Individuals looking to pursue a career as a cloud solutions architect, cloud engineer, cloud consultant, cloud technical architect, solutions architect, cloud professional, cloud administrator, and similar careers could benefit from this bootcamp.
