10 Biggest Celebrities To Ever Visit SDCC | Digital Trends

During its heyday, Comic-Con could host as many celebrities as the Oscars, and sometimes even more. Also, sometimes those celebrities would go out of their way to entertain the fans who had gathered for whatever upcoming projects they were there to tease.

While trailers are fine and every Comic-Con has some great moments, celebrities are ultimately the thing that many people want to see the most. These are the 10 biggest celebrities to ever attend the convention.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depps’ legacy in Hollywood is obviously complex, but few actors were more willing to get into full character for the Comic-Con panels than he was. He recently dressed as Gellert Grindelwald during a panel for theFantastic animalsfranchise, but has also appeared in the past to promote various installments in thePirates of the Caribbeanfranchise. It’s no ordinary Comic-Con, per se, but it has paid its dues to the convention over the course of its long career.

Dwayne The Rock Johnson

BLACK ADAM | Comic Con 2022 Full Panel (Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge)

Another actor who has often fashioned himself as a man of the people, Dwayne The Rock Johnson has often gone to great lengths to make sure his Comic-Con appearances were memorable, even if the movies associated with them are not.

During his last appearance for Black Adam, Johnson presented himself totally in character, a move many notable stars have made over the years. In the end he didn’t make a difference to the film’s box office, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a fun move.

Tom Cruise

Cruise made his most famous recent appearance at Comic-Con to support Top Gun: nonconformistwhich might not seem like the kind of movie that usually gets promoted at Comic-Con, but it all seemed to work out for him.

Cruise is known, especially at this late stage in his career, for valuing movies and their fans more than anything else. It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, then, that he was willing to come to Comic-Con a full three years earlymaverickit’s actually out to start hyping the crowd about its long-imagined sequel.

Will Smith

Though the slap has somewhat tarnished his reputation, Will Smith remains one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and he’s been to Comic-Con a few times fairly recently. The most recent of him was promoting the 2017 Netflix Original movie Lightand the year before was there to promoteSuicide squad.Neither project was hugely successful, but that doesn’t seem to have affected Smith’s overall stardom, or his willingness to promote them with all he had.

Denzel Washington

“The Book of Eli” Panel at Comic-Con (Gary Oldman, Denzel Washington, Mila Kunis, Hughes Brothers)

Washington has tended to seek out far more intellectual projects throughout his storied career, but he stopped by Comic-Con in 2009 toEli’s book, and seemed to be enjoying himself while there. She hasn’t made a habit of going back to clubs and tends to stay out of the public eye longer than most celebrities of her caliber, but she did make one notable appearance at Comic-Con.

Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan has somewhat faded from the mainstream celebrity press, but there was a time when he was one of the biggest stars not just in America but across the globe. He showed up at a Comic-Con in 2012 to promoteJackie Chan’s Chinese Zodiacand while the project itself isn’t as widely remembered today, Jackie’s appearance is memorable in its own right because of the sheer amount of adoration it brings.

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is always up for an extravagant interview, and his Comic-Con appearances were no exception. Cage appeared at Comic-Con when his reputation as an actor was entering a rather low decline which corresponded to the Phantom Knightmovie. Even so, he was always enthusiastic about his work and seemed to recognize how lucky he was to be able to wake up every day and do the kind of work that excites him.

Robert Downey Jr.

Downey Jr. has been a Comic-Con regular for a decade thanks to his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Obviously, the most notable appearances have been related to major Avengers projects, but Downey Jr. seems to have really enjoyed his time at various Comic-Cons and the support he has received from the many fans of the Marvel universe, and of his character in particular.

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck is probably among the least enthusiastic stars on this list. His role as Batman in the DC universe hasn’t been a huge success, at least according to him, though his portrayal certainly has fans of his own. Even so, Affleck did his due and attended Comic-Con several times to promote his upcoming DC-related projects, though his time as Batman won’t be remembered as fondly as Christian Bales or Michael Keatons.

Keanu Reeves

KEANU REEVES SURPRISE FANS at Comic Con 2022

Keanu Reeves has a relatively relaxed energy, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t incredibly passionate about the projects he works on and movies in general. Keanu has been to Comic-Con numerous times over the years and each time shows his typical enthusiasm for the art form to which he has dedicated his life.

While Keanu spent a few years in the wilderness in the mid-2000s, he’s since returned to stardom with a vengeance, and each appearance at Comic-Con only further reminds us of just how big of a star he is.
